DoorDash Got Hacked

On September 26, 2019 DoorDash Got Hacked. Not the exact terminology that they used to when they announced a data breach that affected 4.9 million consumers.

From DoorDash blog.

We take the security of our community very seriously. Earlier this month, we became aware of unusual activity involving a third-party service provider. We immediately launched an investigation and outside security experts were engaged to assess what occurred. We were subsequently able to determine that an unauthorized third party accessed some DoorDash user data on May 4, 2019. We took immediate steps to block further access by the unauthorized third party and to enhance security across our platform. We are reaching out directly to affected users.

What information was compromised?

  • Consumer Names
  • Email Address
  • Postal delivery address
  • Password, kudos for hashing it (concealed using encryption).
  • Last four digits of consumers credit card numbers

The hacked also revealed the driver’s license numbers of about 100,000 delivery workers and their last four digits of bank account numbers.

Experian also blogs the DoorDash data breach and offer solutions on how to protect yourself from future data breaches.
