More than 1 million previously unavailable web addresses are being released.
Donuts, one of the largest new domain registries, has begun releasing 1.369 million previously reserved web addresses spread across 144 new domain extensions like .DEALS, .GURU, .MOVIE and .PHOTOS. These web addresses were previously withheld to address the potential for name collision, or the possible leakage of Internet traffic from a closed private network onto the broader domain name system (or DNS), an issue no longer of concern.
Since these names were originally on the name collision list, they are highly valuable, as they receive billions of traffic lookups per month. Plus, they’re available at low, standard prices (less than 2% are premium priced).
These web addresses are being released in batches based on categories such as photography, business, technology, etc. The next group, all related to services, will be released on August 12, 2015. Domains in this batch include .CAB, .LIMO, .PLUMBING, .LIGHTING, .FLORIST, .ENGINEERING, .CATERING, .MARKETING and .CLEANING.
The lists below are deemed accurate up until the official release. They will not be updated to reflect domains that were registered after the release date. It’s also important to note that they will be offered via the Early Access Program (EAP) for the first seven days of availability of each batch, except those that are listed as already available.
Without further ado, here are the launch dates and categories:
