May 8, 2018 the General Availability of .APP extension where domain names can be registered on a first serve basis. Meaning if you check your name and it’s available, I highly recommend that you register it right away before someone else does. If you missed the dot com, here’s another opportunity for you or your company domain name to shorten that URL Address.
We are using QUE.com domain name for our company brand, website, email, marketing and other related advertising campaign. I tried to register the QUE.APP domain name for defensive purpose but it will cost me $440/year to register and renew every year from Google. By the way, Google manage’s the .APP domain extension. If I remember it correctly, they won it in auction for $25M. Well, that’s peanut for Google.
How to register a .APP Domain Name?
In this example, I am going to register a domain directly to Google domain name registration page e.g. https://domains.google.com or go to their marketing page https://get.app website. If you login, using your @gmail.com account, you simply search the domain keyword you like to register. Of course, you may register .APP extension using your favorite domain registrar.
Let’s begin, click on Search Domains.
I type in yehey.app to check if still available to register. The result will display as shown below. The yehey.app is available for $14/year to register and also for renewal every year, and other extension will also show up if they are taken or available. For Yehey keyword, the new .APP extension is available (as of this time) to be register by anyone.
I clicked on the cart icon to add yehey.app domain name to my cart. And I clicked on my cart to review my order as shown below.
